Bayville Man Arrested, Charged In Scott Drive Burglaries

William Needham arrested at his parents' home in Hidden Creek Apartments, suspect in other burglaries

Berkeley Township detectives have arrested a 26-year-old man and charged him with several burglaries in the Scott Drive area.

William Needham was arrested at his parents' home at 7 Mystic Court in the Hidden Creek Apartments complex in Bayville at 11:24 p.m. on April 16, Detective Joseph Robertazzi said.

Needham is a suspect in several residential burglaries that occurred in the Scott Estates section of the township off Route 9, nearby his parents' home, he said

Detectives went to the 7 Mystic Court address to look for Needham after two residential burglaries were reported in the area, one at 49 Scott Drive and one at 27 Browning Avenue. Both burglaries occurred on April 16, Robertazzi said.

Needham also had two outstanding warrants from Beachwood and Brick Township, he said.

Needham's parents let detectives into the home. When police went to Needham's room, he tried to jump out the window of the second floor apartment. Detectives arrested Needham before he was able to jump, Robertazzi said.

When police searched Needham, they found a "large amount" of jewelry, heroin and hypodermic syringes, Robertazzi said.

"A search of Needham’s room turned up additional jewelry and drug paraphernalia, along with rubber gloves and burglar’s tools," he said.

Police charged Needham with two counts of burglary, one count of theft, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Municipal Court Judge John J. Sheehy set Needham’s bail at $75,000. He is lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, Robertazzi said.

Needham is suspected in at least three other area burglaries and charges are pending. Detectives have recovered jewelry they believe to be stolen and are working to identify its owners and return it, he said.

Anyone with any further information should contact Robertazzi at 732-341-1132, ext. 121.

Heroin and hypodermics are not things being sought by employers!

Better to remain silent and appear like a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
